Scott Sidway is a freelance trombonist, composer/arranger, and educator living in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.  He is well versed in virtually all musical styles, including jazz, classical, rock, salsa, pop, gospel, Tejano, and chamber music.   Some of the bands you may hear him with are Limelight, the Zack King Band, the Tyler Mire Big Band, Ministers of Brass, and the Jazz Monsters of Fort Worth.

Sidway has performed internationally with many different ensembles.  He has played trombone for Norwegian Cruise Line, Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus, the Disneyland All-American College Band, at the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy, and at the Havana Jazz Festival in Cuba.  He was a featured soloist at Carnegie Hall with the TCU Wind Symphony in 2011, and he has performed with such artists as Wayne Bergeron, Andy Martin, Gordon Goodwin, Rick Baptist, Jiggs Whigham, Wycliffe Gordon, Sal Lozano, Steve Houghton, John Clayton, Gregg Field, Pat Williams, Howard Johnson, Joe Jackson, and the Four Freshmen.

Music education has been a large part of Scott’s life in addition to performing and composing.  He currently runs a private low brass studio, teaching students of all ages around DFW on trombone, euphonium, and tuba.  His original jazz etudes for both tenor and bass trombone have been selected and used as audition material for the Texas All-State Jazz Band.  Sidway also conducts master classes and clinics with brass students and jazz ensembles frequently around the Metroplex.

Scott holds two degrees: a Masters of Music in trombone performance and a Bachelors in Music Education, both from Texas Christian University.  While at TCU, he studied trombone with Dave Begnoche and Mike Hayes, and studied jazz with Curt Wilson and Joe Eckert.  His professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), Texas Jazz Educators Association (TJEA), and the International Trombone Association (ITA).
